Elizabeth Ann Short was born July 29, 1924, in Boston, Massachusetts. She moved to California, and by the mid-1940s was in Los Angeles working odd jobs (including waitressing) while pursuing dreams of acting.

The Black Dahlia case is primarily linked to the 1947 murder of Elizabeth Short, in Los Angeles, and there have been numerous theories and suspects over the years.
